What is a nondog?
-
nondog is a customer-centric interactive web-based user interface, operating within the new economy contextually non-geocentric global hypermedia telecommunications network, supported extensively by human non-counterintuitive implementation of cutting-edge hyperdesign technology.
i.e. A website.
There is a bird that appears from time to time in this area (Indian Cookoo I think) that has a repetitive call that sounds just like 'nondog dot com'.
'nondog dot com' is an original tongue-twister.
My Dad's Sony Aibo is called nondog.
Seriously though, I just like the word - shoot me.

Who is clivus nondog?
-
clivus nondog is my internet name. My real name is no secret and can be found under this link. I use a different name on the net because of privacy considerations and so that if someone contacts me as clivus I know it's from the internet.
I'm basically an artist and designer. My career has always been project based - sometimes self-employed, sometimes on contract and sometimes employing others - with a lot of building and making as well as design. Most of this has been in the physical domain - film and theatre prop-making, furniture custom design and build, and interior design and building.
I got the bug for computers a few years back when I started using my friends Mac for publicity and admin associated with a community art gallery I was establishing. I've always had a bent for technology and since then I've been learning all about how to build repair and use computers. Over the last couple of years I've been concentrating on web design, the basics of networking and dabbling a bit with programming (scripts).
In connection with the internet I like to describe myself as a web architect. My formal training is in architecture and I find website design to be a similar discipline. This also distinguishes me from people who just design the superficial 'look' of the site and leave the coding to someone else. I've always believed that a designer should know how to build what he designs.

What kind of projects does nondog take on?
-
Web design, authoring and publishing.
Logos and animations (2D and 3D).
Interactive CD Roms.
Very short run print projects.
-
What about hardware?
-
I still do repairs and help people in my local community if I have the time, but basically I've come to the conclusion hardware is a mug's game. There is no skill in it any more and very little money.
-
Is nondog an individual or a group of people?
-
I like to think of nondog as a one-man virtual corporation. In other words, if a project comes along that I can't handle on my own, I'll bring in partners with complimentary skill sets to form a team for the project. Most of the projects I take on are of a size I can handle alone, which is pretty much the way I like it.
From time to time I work on projects as part of a team someone else has put together.
-
Can nondog handle Chinese language stuff?
-
I work in association with a freelance editor who can translate Chinese to English but this is usually incidental to our main work.
-
Why did you choose such a weird name?
-
It keeps the stuffed suits away.
-
Do you mind answering all these questions?
-
Actually it is getting a bit boring.
-
Shall I shut up now?
-
Yes, go and look at the rest of the web site.
