Troy McLachlan primarily comes from a sound background, having started in television as a sound operator with video film crews. Over the years he has worked as an advertising copywriter, a jingle writer and sound engineer for music projects. Troy McLachlan worked a number of years with daily news crews for Television New Zealand and TV3. He has also been involved in making documentaries and current affairs items for diverse television networks such as NHK Japan, Channel Nine in Australia and French TV. Working in daily news in New Zealand has given Troy a strong basis in making "rip, shit 'n' bust" video projects where clients need quick results at broadcast quality. He believes a news background gives him the ability to go out and get the pictures needed to finish a video project on time and under budget. |

"I got into building my own computers, messing around with the internet and learning about how computers work and what they can do. At the time I was sourcing a project that involved creating and running a community art gallery and I realised that here was a way to supplement my meager income. "I started to develop my computer skills in web-design and offer my services to other artists and freelancers. I was pleased to discover that computer technology had progressed to a level where it could at last offer a useful tool in the area of 3D design at a reasonable price. [Compared with my previous experience while I was doing my degree in 1980, wherein I was limited to producing wire-nets in perspective with something housed in a box the size of a wardrobe.]" Since then Clive has dabbled in script-writing and programming and extended his skills in web design, 3D object modeling and logo design. The latest string to be added to his bow is DV editing. You can see various examples of his work on this site and the original nondog site |
