nondogDV FAQ
- How long is a piece of string? top
- Sadly this will often be the answer to questions people will have at the beginning of the project.
This is in regard to almost all questions involving money and time. That's why we always advise our customers to have some idea of a budget and a deadline before contacting us.
- On the video side of things, what sort of quality can I expect? top
- Our basic output is full quality PAL on miniDV tape which is broadcast quality. (i.e. If we made something you might see on TV it would look like something you might see on TV).
Qualty is reduced somewhat in the transfer to disk media - DVD and (S)VCD.
- You say you use pro-sumer technology - what does that mean? top
- We use 3-chip cameras and professional editing software. Pro-sumer basically means the expensive end of the stuff you can buy in normal shops.
- Can you do all the latest fancy graphical stuff on websites? top
- We can do them but we would encourage you to ask yourself if you really need them
- We can do all the javascript CSS Flash animation etc for website enhancement but we don't do it for the sake of it. Our philosophy at nondogDV is to get the message across in the simplest cleanest way.
- We don't use bells and whistles to substitute for creativity and craft.
- What about other formats for output? top
- Our aim at nondogDV is to provide tjhe skills and resources to complete all aspects of the project as a whole if that means expanding into print media, interactive CD ROM, etc, we will do it.
The importrant parameter is the size of the project not its breadth.
- We have the ability to output full resolution DV at 16:9 aspect ratio and our editing suite can handle all the new High Definition digital video (HDDV) formats. We are scheduled to move to HD video cameras at the end of Q1 2006.
- So how long is the piece of string? How much does it cost and how long will it take? top
- The kind of people that come to nondogDV for their digital media needs usually have budgets in the range od HK$10,000-100,000 and are looking at a production schedule of 2-8 weeks once the initial negotiations have been completed. We find the more a customer knows what they want the quicker these initial negotiation are completed.
